stronger than on the economy and other matters. the other critique is that mitt romney is saying i would do things differently, but there isn't a huge spelling out of how he would do things differently. you mentioned iran. going forward he had a detailed critique of how to handle it forward. that's the trouble trying to define stark lines. that's why he went philosophical to say i would be tougher. we have a duty as america to lead. he mentioned syria. we need to step in and support demonstrators and those things. we'll see. he clearly has an intention, an opening against obama. >> chris, while carrying a bigger stick on foreign policy he's also on the campaign trail being kinder and gentler himself in unveiling what they didn't do at the convention other than through surrogates. he's been giving speeches now three in a row where he gives example of his ministry, his mormon ministry and conduction to suffering people. chris, thank you. >> thank you. >> now i want to move on to a point of personal privilege. some viewers might be confused by the fact that the obama campaign is airing a comme

it is for paul ryan. paul ryan believes that the obama economy and the economic policies are joe biden's achille's heel. this is going to be interesting tonight. >> romneyfully and ryan the campaigns putting ow attack line after attack line as recently as last night after the very contentious republican-led hearing on benghazi. so they are clearly going to try to go after the obama foreign policy on what happened in libya as well. ron mott, it's going be so much fun. >> looking forward to it. >> good to see you. a live look now at the stage where joe biden and paul ryan are facing off here in danville, kentucky. see the stage, they'll get walk-throughs later on. the same look, the same eagle. the same red carpet, blue backdrop that we've seen for decades with the presidential e debate commission. we'll talk to senator pat toomey how the deficit is going to play a role in the depate. he was a member of the super committee. plus memorable moments from past vice presidential debates like this one from 1988. >> senator, i served with jack kennedy, i knew jack kennedy. jack kennedy was a friend of m

has the guts to say his name. >> big bird. >> big, yellow, a menace to our economy, mitt romney knows it's not wall street you have to worry about, it's sesame street. >> i'm going to stop the subsidy to pbs. >> mitt romney taking on our enemies no matter where they nest. >> now it's funny. >> politics. >> when talking about sesame street and not taxes, you know, foreign policy or, you know, what to do about the fiscal cliff, what kind of a campaign is that? >> well, this is -- so the gamut here, you mentioned, this is on cable tv nationally in some broadcast tv nationally and not in any swing state. if the obama campaign spent $100,000 on this ad buy, i would be surprised. they certainly don't have any real money behind it. this is meant to be a talker in the media and to send to their base and say see, mitt romney, he's being ridiculous. the danger when you do things like this, this close to an election is to your point, i got lots of republicans sending me the famous barack obama quote from 2008 about john mccain that he can't talk about big things in this election so he's trying t

of explaining why governor romney will turn around the economy and i thought the vice president was a lot of the time was rude and, you know, when they prep you for debates andrea, they always teach you or they warn you, you got to be respectful of the format and audience because if you're not people don't like it and then they turn off what you're saying. they don't hear the substance of it. i thought the vice president dialed it down a little in the second half but the first half of the debate he was over the top. >> there were a couple points where paul ryan had to defend his own position where they differ with mitt romney's. one in particular was abortion. let's watch. >> the policy of a romney administration will be to oppose abortion with the exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother. >> well, i guess he accept govern's romney's position now because in the past he has argued there was rape and forcible rape. >> we tried to play that earlier but had problems with our tape technically in new york. but the point being, that as you know, paul ryan has a very firm position again

tolls on economies, on public health. these are very, very serious matters. and they really deserve attention at the highest levels of government. >> well, i can attest to the fact in every place hillary clinton goes, she does an event with women or meets with people and reaches out so she's made a mainstream issue of diplomacy. now she is talking today about a global initial to end child marriage by 2030. talk to me about that. >> it exacts a toll on girls. one in seven girls under the age of 15 in the developing world is in a child marriage. that means in many ways the life is snuffed out. she doesn't get an opportunity to go to school, to enjoy all the things she should be guaranteed. it also means very frequently that she will bear children very early. she will more often than not suffer terrible health consequences. often death. and the children that she has will also be shortchanged because she herself lacks an education. so today was a wonderful observance as you said the international day of the girl. and it was a commitment that the secretary made in the presence of archbis
